Antifreeze Health
Antifreeze is a very important component of your car. It keeps your
radiator fluid from freezing in very cold temperatures and from boiling
in very hot temperatures. Usually in the fall of every year, you bring
out our antifreeze tester to determine the freeze point of the antifreeze.
An antifreeze tester comes in a couple different forms and here is a quick
overview of what they can do and how.
"Each brand of antifreeze tester device can work in a different way.
Some devices use floating balls to help advise vehicle owners of freeze
points and may employ numbers and dots to help deliver the desired information.
Discs, built-in magnification tools, readability in both Celsius and Fahrenheit
and clear, plastic barrels can all make the use of an antifreeze tester
as easy as possible. Features like tail length and bulb durability may
also vary between brands. However, each brand of device can usually work
in either hot or cold fluids and can check fluids directly in coolant
overflow systems or radiators."
"The ideal antifreeze tester provides quick and accurate cooling and
boiling point results. In addition, though, an antifreeze tester may be
able to do other things like test for rust or sediment buildup or deposits.
They may also give insight into the efficiency of the cooling liquid;
for example, it can tell motorists if their vehicles are actually being
overprotected by a solution of antifreeze that is too potent." www.wisegeek.com
Most antifreeze testers don't check anything other than freeze/boiling
point temperatures so it is always advised to have your antifreeze tested
by a professional to make sure it is not degraded. Your coolant system
should also be drained and flushed at least once a year or every 60,000
miles to protect your vehicle from sludge that can build up in your engine
cooling system.

Antifreeze tester's kind of look like a turkey baster.
You may be hearing a tweet, but it's
not a bird.

Let's say you are driving down the road on a warm fall day with your
windows rolled down. You are feeling the warm sunshine, smelling fresh
dirt as farmers plow their fields, and hearing the constant tweet of birds.
Now wait a minute, the tweeting you are hearing may not be from the birds.
This noise could also be your vehicle giving you a warning that something
is wrong. There are several different types of noises your vehicle can
make, from booming to chirps to howls and squeaks. Sometimes it is hard
to explain to your automotive technician the noise you are hearing as
you drive down the road. It may be embarrassing sometimes but it works
best if you duplicate the noise verbally to best help him determine what
the noise is. Some common noises and their descriptions are listed below.
Boom: Rhythms sound like a drum roll or a distant thunder and may cause
pressure on eardrum.
Chirp: High pitched rapidly repeating sound like chirping birds.
Hum: A continuous sound of varying frequencies like a wire humming in
the wind.
Roar: A deep, long, prolonged sound like an animal, or wind and ocean
waves.
Whistle: Sharp, shrill-like sound like wind passing through a small opening.
Some other things your service technician may ask you is if there is
a vibration with the noise, when it started, how often you hear it, when
it happens, your speed, and the road conditions. All these have an affect
on the diagnoses of the noise. When you bring your can into TBS
AUTOMOTIVE, we have a diagnostic worksheet we go though to
help diagnose the cause of the problem.

Thank You!

First, we would like to thank you for your patronage. You are greatly
appreciated and we strive to improve and exceed all your expectations
regarding your safety and the performance of your vehicles.
Being in the automotive repair industry is all about trust. If you don't
trust your automotive technician to give you the right information about
what is wrong with your vehicle, you can you trust? As a wife, daughter,
niece and granddaughter of automotive technicians, I know how much is
involved with choosing a technician who will do right by you. You are
entrusting your safety and the integrity of your vehicles to someone you
may never see outside of the facility and that is a lot of trust to place
with one place. There are a lot of things that can influence the place
of that trust. The condition/location of the facility, the quality of
work, word of mouth, price, time and the list goes on. We are glad you
have chose TBS AUTOMOTIVE as your
trusted automotive repair facility and we will do everything possible
to keep your trust with us
